Ain't No Sunshine
Bill WithersAin't no when she's gone
It's not when she's away
Ain't no sunshine when she's
And she's always gone too
Anytime she goes away
Wonder this where she's gone
Wonder if she's gone to
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
And this just ain't no home
Anytime she goes away
And I know, I know, I know, I know
I know, I know, I know, I know,
I know, I know, I know, I know,
I know, I know, I know, I know,
I know, I know, I know, I know,
I know, I know, I know, I know,
I know, I know
Hey, I oughtta young thing alone
But ain't no sunshine when she's gone
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
Only every day
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
And this house just ain't no home
Anytime she goes away
Anytime she goes away
Anytime she goes away
Anytime she goes away
Bill Withers was inspired to write the song after watching the 1962 movie Days of Wine and Roses. The film depicts the downward spiral of two everyday Americans, played by Jack Lemmon and Lee Remick, who succumb to alcoholism and attempt to deal with their problems.
