Lyrics

playI caught you watching me under the light
playCan I realign?
playThey say it's easy to leave you behind
playI don't want try

playCut cover, take that test
playHold courage to your chest
playDon't wanna wait for you
playDon't wanna have to lose
playall that i've compromised
playto feel another high
playI've got to keep it down tonight

playAnd oh, oh, oh
playI was a king under your control
playAnd oh, oh, oh
playI wanna feel like you've let me go
playSo let me go

playDon't you remember how I used to like
playbeing on the line?
playI dreamed you dreamed of me calling out my name
playIs it worth the price?

playCut cover, take that test
playHold courage to your chest
playDon't wanna wait for you
playDon't wanna have to lose
playAll that I've compromised
playto feel another high
playI've got to keep it down tonight

playAnd oh, oh, oh
playI was a king under your control
playAnd oh, oh, oh
playI wanna feel like you've let me go

playI had to break myself to carry on
playNo love and no admission
playTake this from me tonight
playOh, let's fight
playOh, let's fight
playOh, let's fight
playOh

playAnd oh, oh, oh
playI was a king under your control
playAnd oh, oh, oh
playI wanna feel like you've let me go
playSo let me go

playLet go, let go, let go of everything
playLet go, let go, let go of everything
playLet go, let go, let go of everything
playLet go, let go, let go of everything

meaningMeaning

Olly Alexander explained to Digital Spy the meaning of the song:

It's about being in a relationship with someone and how that can feel really intoxicating, but that can be really addictive and you can feel like a king. You know it has to end and you feel it's going bad, but you don't feel strong enough to end it yourself. You want the other person to end it. That's what I felt like I was going through over the period of a year, and then towards the end, I wrote the song.
