Meaning

Richard Curtis wanted a key song for his new film Notting Hill.

The song is talking about how somebody loves someone, and how, even if somebody doesn't say a word, he still knows she loves him.

It's a great way of thinking of love...the idea that two people in love can exchange things without even talking is beautiful!

Lyrics

It's amazing how you can speak
Right to my heart
Without saying a word, you can light up the dark
Try as I may, I can never explain
What I hear when you don't say a thing

The smile on your face lets me know
That you need me
There's a truth in your eyes
Saying you'll never leave me
The touch of your hand says
You'll catch me whenever I fall
You say the best when you say nothing at all

All day long I can hear people
Talking out loud
But when you hold me near
You can drown out the crowd
Try as they may, they could never define
What's been said between your heart and mine

The smile on your face lets me know
That you need me
There's a truth in your eyes
Saying you'll never leave me
The touch of your hand says
You'll catch me whenever I fall
You say the best when you say nothing at all

The smile on your face lets me know
That you need me
Because there's a truth in your eyes
Saying you'll never leave me
And the touch of your hand says
You'll catch me whenever I fall
You say the best when you say nothing at all

You say the best when you say nothing at all
You say the best when you say nothing at all

The smile on your face
That look in your eyes
The touch of your hand
Let me know that you need me

You say the best when you say nothing at all
You say the best when you say nothing at all
Play with the song, fill the gaps
