Hymn For The Weekend

Lyrics

playOh angel sent from up above
playYou know you make my world light up
playWhen I was down, when I was hurt
playYou came to lift me up

playLife is a drink and love’s a drug
playOh now I think I must be miles up
playWhen I was a river dried up
playYou came to rain a flood

playYou said ‘drink from me, drink from me’
playWhen I was so thirsty
playPoured on a symphony
playNow I just can’t get enough
playPut your wings on me, on me
playwhen I was so heavy
playpoured on a symphony
playwhen I’m low low low low

playI oh I oh I
playGot me feeling drunk and high
playSo high so high
playOh I oh I oh I
playNow I’m feeling drunk and high
playSo high so high

playOh angel sent from up above
playI feel you coursing through my blood
playLife is a drink and your love’s about
playTo make the stars come out

playPut your wings on me, on me
playWhen I was so heavy
playPoured on a symphony
playWhen I’m low low low low

playI oh I oh I
playYou got me feeling drunk and high
playSo high so high
playOh I oh I oh I
playNow I’m feeling drunk and high
playSo high so high

playI oh I oh I
playLa la la la la la la
playSo high so high

playoh I oh I oh I
playNow I’m feeling drunk and high
playSo high so high
playThat I shoot across the sky
playThat I shoot across the
playThat I shoot across the sky
playWatch me shoot across the….

Play with the song, fill the gaps

meaningMeaning

“Hymn for the Weekend” grew out of a desire for Coldplay to have a club song that people could dance to. Usually club music doesn’t have a lot of depth, but Coldplay manages to pull off depth as well as “pop hit” in “Hymn for the Weekend.”
