We Don't Talk Anymore

Lyrics

playWe don't talk anymore!
playWe don't talk anymore!
playWe don't talk anymore!
playLike we used to do

playWe don't love anymore
playWhat was all of it for?
playOhh, we don't talk anymore
playLike we used to do

playI just heard you found the one you've been looking
playYou've been looking for
playI wish I would've known that wasn't me
play'Cause even after all this time I still wonder
playWhy I can't move on
playJust the way you did so easily

playDon't wanna know
playWhat kind of dress you're wearing tonight
playIf he's holding onto you so tight
playThe way I did before
playI overdosed
playShould've known your love was a game
playNow I can't get you out of my brain
playOhh, it's such a shame

playThat we don't talk anymore
playWe don't talk anymore
playWe don't talk anymore
playLike we used to do
playWe don't laugh anymore
playWhat was all of it for?
playOhh, we don't talk anymore
playLike we used to do

playI just hope you're lying next to somebody
playWho knows how to love you like me
playThere must be a good reason that you're gone
playEvery now and then I think you
playMight want me to come show up at your door
playBut I'm just too afraid that I'll be wrong

playDon't wanna know
playIf you're looking into her eyes
playIf she's holding onto you so tight
playthe way I did before
playI overdosed
playShould've known your love was a game
playNow I can't get you out of my brain
playOh, it's such a shame

playThat we don't talk anymore
play(We don't we don't)
playWe don't talk anymore
play(We don't we don't)
playWe don't talk anymore
playLike we used to do
playWe don't laugh anymore
play(We don't we don't)
playWhat was all of it for?
play(We don't we don't)
playOh, we don't talk anymore
playLike we used to do
playLike we used to do

playDon't wanna know
playWhat kind of dress you're wearing tonight
playIf he's giving it to you just right
playThe way I did before
playI overdosed
playShould've known your love was a game
playNow I can't get you out of my brain
playOh, it's such a shame

playThat we don't talk anymore
play(We don't we don't)
playWe don't talk anymore
play(We don't we don't)
playWe don't talk anymore
playLike we used to do
playWe don't laugh anymore
play(We don't we don't)
playWhat was all of it for?
play(We don't we don't)
playOh, we don't talk anymore
playLike we used to do

play(We don't talk anymore)
playDon't wanna know
playWhat kind of dress you're wearing tonight (oh)
playIf he's holding onto you so tight (oh)
playThe way I did before
play(We don't talk anymore)
playI overdosed
playShould've known your love was a game (oh)
playNow I can't get you out of my brain (woah)
playOh, it's such a shame

In a new interview with MTV News, Puth revealed that the song was written in Japan, and inspired by a conversation with a friend.

“I was in my hotel room, at the Mandarin Hotel, looking out at this wonderful city from the top floor, and I called my guitarist who was in the next room and I said, ‘Dude, can you come to my room really quickly and play this guitar line?’” said Puth. “I didn’t have a microphone, so I recorded his guitar with my iPhone, and I put t in the mix. Then, we went to the Philippines the next day and I put the kick drum in.”

And if you’re wondering about the lyrics, the “Marvin Gaye” singer said they were inspired by a phone call he had with a friend who had just gotten out of a relationship.

“I remember a conversation I had with my friend. He had just broken up with this girl, and I was like, ‘So, are you going to talk to her anymore?’ And he was like, ‘Nah, we don’t talk anymore.’”
